Organizational Structure

American Lung Association of the Central States has fourteen offices in six states – Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. Our organization is divided into six main departments, and while each office offers services in each of these departments, management planning and oversight of each department is directed from a specific office.

Advocacy

Community Initiatives

The Community Initiatives Department manages all regional education opportunities for asthma, tobacco and COPD. Additionally, the Community Initiatives Department oversees all grant writing, funding research and grant administration. Finance and Operations

The Finance and Operations team manages all of the financial, legal and operational needs of the organization. Additionally, this team oversees all technical aspects of the organization, including network management. Marketing

The Marketing Department is responsible for how the American Lung Association communicates with both its internal and external audiences. The Marketing Department designs all printed materials for use by the organization. Additionally, this department is responsible for all media relations and press inquiries. Resource Development

Senior Management

Chief Executive Officer

Sara Dreiling, MBA
Sara is responsible for the management of the five state region. She oversees all areas of operations and management for the American Lung Association of the Central States. Sara is the primary liaison to the Board of Directors. Sara is based out of the Houston office. 

Chief Financial and Operating Officer

Edward C. Rosentel, CPA
Ed is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Association, including the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Information Technology and Regional Operations.  He works closely with the CEO, the Board of Directors, Management Team, and various relevant committees and task groups.  Ed is resposible for maintaining effective relationships with appropriate government and community agencies, as well as public and private organizations. Ed is based out of the Dallas office.

Senior Vice President of Resource Development

Phillip J. Hanson, MPA
Phil is responsible for the management of the fundraising and development staff for the five state region. He manages all areas of development, including corporate giving, individual giving, special events, memorial giving and planned giving. Phil is based out of the Kansas City Office.

Senior Vice President of Community Initiatives

Margaret Crump, MPH
Margaret is responsible for the management of the Community Initiative department for the five state region. She provides oversight of three areas: educational programming, the grant department and medical research. Margaret is based out of the Tulsa office.

Senior Vice President of Marketing & Advocacy

Michelle R. Bernth, M.S.
Michelle is responsible for the management of the Marketing and Advocacy departments for the five state region. She is the organization’s primary media contact and spokesperson.  Michelle manages the advocacy department, which works on changing public policy to advance lung health. Michelle is based out of the St. Louis office.

Vice President of Special Events

Chris Hochstetler
Chris oversees the special events fundraising throughout the region. Under his direction, the organization hosts 18 special events each year. These events range from athletic fundraisers to black tie events. Chris is based out of the Omaha office.

Vice President of Human Resources

Robin Jones, PHR
Robin manages the organization’s human resources. She participates in the strategic planning process and is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance of state and federal laws for the organization. Robin also establishes Human Resource systems, practices, and approaches. Finally, she is responsible for the creation of a work environment and culture that encourages all employees to perform at the highest level of their ability. Robin is based out of the Dallas office.
