Freedom From Smoking (FFS) is a community based smoking cessation program that offers a supportive environment in which individuals can quit smoking. The program has more than 20 years of success nationally. The program has an orientation and seven sessions that extend over a seven-week period, with each session lasting two hours. The psychological principles and methods used help the individual gain control over his/her behavior, which makes quitting a less stressful experience.
This behavior modification program helps people:
• Learn about their addiction
• Builds motivation to quit.
• Provides the support needed to quit.
Included in the program is counseling on diet, exercise, stress management, and relaxation techniques.

Launched in 2006, the American Lung Association’s Smokefree Air Challenge calls on all 50 states and the District of Columbia to pass laws prohibiting smoking in all public places and workplaces, including restaurants and bars. The country has made great progress towards meeting the Smokefree Air Challenge. Currently, 27 states and the District of Columbia have met the Smokefree Air Challenge, including Kansas in 2010. The American Lung Association will fight in 2010 and beyond to make sure everyone in all 50 states can enjoy clean, smokefree air where they work and play. You can join our fight for smokefree air by signing our Smokefree Air Challenge petition, click here.
Freedom From Smoking® Online, or FFS Online, is a program specifically designed for adults who want to quit smoking.
