Check Scam Targets Texas Communities

From time-to-time, perpetrators of frauds of one kind or another illegally use the names of reputable organizations, including American Lung Association, to attempt to give an air of legitimacy to their fraudulent conduct. One such recent fraud involves a“Mystery Shopping” program in which a member of the public is sent what appears to a valid check from the American Lung Association. American Lung Association is not involved in any kind of “Mystery Shopping” or similar program. If you have any suspicions about any material you may receive in which American Lung Association or one of its affiliated organizations is named, please contact the American Lung Association Lung HelpLine at 1-800-LUNGUSA, as well as local law enforcement authorities. American Lung Association is committed to working with the public and law enforcement authorities to prevent fraudulent solicitations involving American Lung Association’s good name.
